Released in 1985 on her album Hounds of Love, “Running Up That Hill” was the first single from English singer-songwriter Kate Bush.
It was her first 12-inch single. It entered the UK Singles Chart at number 9 and peaked at number 3, making it one of Bush’s second highest charting singles.
The single provided Bush with her first chart hit in the United States since 1978, where it reached the top 30 on the Billboard Hot 100 and featured prominently in dance charts.
The single had an impact in the United States, where it reached the top 30 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. It was also prominently featured in dance clubs, and Bush performed it live for the first time with David Gilmour of Pink Floyd at Secret Policeman’s Third Ball in 1987.
The title for Hounds of Love and all subsequent releases was “Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God)”.
